Personal note from Matthew Hammer

Grandma was always loving and caring in a way that felt constant and dependable, like a steady light you could always find your way back to. She didn’t just say the right things—she showed them through her actions every day. Whether it was offering comfort when someone was struggling, stepping in quietly to help when it was needed, or simply being present with warmth and patience, she made people feel valued and cared for. Her kindness never felt forced or performative; it was simply who she was at her core.

What made her truly special was how much she taught by example. She showed that compassion wasn’t about grand gestures or recognition, but about consistency, empathy, and doing what you could for others whenever the opportunity appeared. By living that way, she shaped the people around her without ever needing to instruct them. Her life was a lesson in generosity, love, and quiet strength, and those lessons will continue to guide everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
