Sylvia's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Spencer, who left us peacefully on December 18, 2024. Born on January 23, 1936, mostly known as Mother Spencer, she lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Mother Spencer traveled the world with stops in England and Texas as other places of dwelling. Her warmth was infectious and she had an extraordinary knack for making everyone around her feel loved and welcomed. Mother Spencer will always be remembered for her strength, resilience, and unwavering faith. She was the comforting voice in times of hardship and the ray of light brightening up the dullest of days.
Despite her many personal accomplishments, Mother Spencer would often say that her greatest achievement was her family. She is survived by her husband Joe Spencer , two beautiful daughters, Telogene Baker and Valerie Smith including sons Wesley Smith and Jermaine Archibald. Multiple grandchildren, Richard Baker, Natasha Thomas, Nicole Williams, and Malik Smith. Great grandchildren Mia Baker, Nigel Baker, Jeremiah Thomas , Devon Williams, and Adonai Smith. She has multiple nieces and nephews. Highlighted with Jeffrey Yi, Jimmy, James and Jacquelynn Spencer. Mother Spencer's unconditional love, wisdom, and support were the pillars that guided all listed family throughout their lives.
The void left by her absence is immeasurable. Yet, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched, the smiles she inspired, and the love she unreservedly shared.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Mother Spencer's remarkable life will be held on January 7, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The commemoration will take place in San Antonio, Texas
We invite all those who knew and loved Mother Spencer to join us as we bid her a fond farewell. We kindly ask you to bring along your stories, memories, and love for her, as we honor her legacy that will forever live on in our hearts and minds.
