Sylvester's obituary
Sylvester "Sly" Watson, a man of distinctive character and vibrant spirit, moved on from this life on October 6, 2023. Sylvester, also known affectionately as "Sly," was born on December 11, 1959, and during his lifetime he was known for his passion, love, childhood stories and the love for his large, wonderful family.
Sylvester is survived by a beautiful blend of birth and step-children whom he loved dearly: his sons, Emanulle Echols and Steven Olsen; his daughters, Melissa Henderson and Sylvia Olsen; and his stepchildren, Manasha Carr, Demetreis Bloch, Markeyla Atkins, Theresa Atkins, and Jacaria Echols, and also his siblings Milton, Henry, Brenda ,Kathleen and Mary.
A man of simple tastes, Sylvester took great joy in life’s pleasures. His palate favored the crispy delight of fried chicken, and he found joy in a wide variety of karate movies, drawing him to the TV screen. One of his most cherished films was "Enter The Dragon" starring the inimitable Bruce Lee.
True to his nature of rooting for the underdog, the Dallas Cowboys held a special place in his heart, and he cheered on his team with unwavering loyalty. Sylvester spent his free time engaging in the peaceful serenity of fishing - an activity that brought him great calm and pleasure throughout his life.
Sylvester cherished his roots. His favorite vacation spot was not a tropical island or a bustling city, but his beloved home in Davenport, Iowa. The color baby blue always held a special place in his heart, adding a soothing touch to his vibrant life.
Sylvester was a man of many loves, a uniquely individual spirit who touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. As we remember Sylvester, let us celebrate the beautiful life he led and the love he left lbehind in each of our hearts.
