Syed Qambar's obituary

Dr. Qambar Naqvi, beloved father, grandfather, friend, and healer, passed away on October 15, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by his family and the love he gave so freely throughout his life.

He was born on May 25, 1958, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and grew up with modest means but extraordinary dreams. Through brilliance, perseverance, and heart, he built a life filled with meaning and purpose. As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, he devoted his career to understanding and uplifting others. His patients and colleagues remember him for his wisdom, compassion, and for his gift of helping people see the best in themselves.

Qambar lived with a poet’s soul. As a shayir, his verses revealed the gentleness, curiosity, and depth that guided him through life. His writing captured moments of love, wonder, and reflection, the same qualities he brought to his relationships and to the world around him.

He was funny and so full of life, a man whose laughter filled every room. His latifay and stories were famous among family and friends. He loved people, and people loved being near him and his friendships stretched across decades and continents, each one built on connection, loyalty, and joy.

More than anything, Qambar was a family man. He was endlessly proud of his children, Fatima, Batool, Ahmad, and Ali, and saw in each of them the best parts of himself. He celebrated their successes, guided them through their challenges, and reminded them to live with purpose and kindness. His greatest joy was being Nana to Deen, Amal, and Norah, whose laughter brought him pure happiness. He poured his love into them completely, leaving behind memories that will light their lives forever.

When illness came and stayed for three years, Qambar met it with courage and grace. He never lost his humor or his will to live. Even in hardship, he continued to love, to listen, and to hope.

He shared many meaningful years with Shahana Naqvi, the mother of his children, whose bond with him endured through time.

Dr. Naqvi’s legacy lives on in the countless hearts he touched, in his family, his friends, his patients, and all who will never forget his light.

He came from little, gave everything, and left the world brighter for having been in it.

May his memory continue to light our skies.
