Susan's obituary
Susan Conley Towey, originally of Brooklyn, NY passed away peacefully at home in Manchester, N,J on October 9, 2022 at the age of 74.
A loving, wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother, Susan was raised in Brooklyn, daughter of James and Claire Conley and sister to Rita, Carol, Edward and James.
Susan attended St. Brendan’s Catholic High School graduating in 1966 and went on to attend college at Hunter College in New York.
After some time working in advertising, she took a position at Dry Dock Savings Bank, where she met her husband, John Towey. They wed in November of 1969 and went on to have three children, Elizabeth, Laura and Shaun.
A devoted mother, Susan raised her three children as the household made moves from Nutley, NJ, down south to Anderson, SC and Laurinburg, NC before resettling back in New City, NY. Upon returning to New York, Susan resumed her career and managed a law firm in Rockland County for several years.
Susan had many interests and passions and was beloved by all who knew her. One of her greatest sources of delight was her family, including her son-in-law Rham Fenton and daughter-in-law Mariella Borero- Towey. Without a doubt, Susan’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren – James and Luke Fenton, and Frances and Emmy Towey.
Susan is survived by her husband, John, her children, grandchildren and brothers.
The family lay Susan to rest in an intimate ceremony for immediate family at the Veterans Memorial in New Egypt, NJ on October 20th. A celebration of Susan’s life for family and friends will be announced at a later date. The family asks kindly that any memorial donations be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a charity near to Susan’s heart for her love of children.
