Susan's obituary

Susan Yvonne Swearingen

May 22, 1959 – February 10, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Susan Yvonne Swearingen, who left this world on February 10, 2025. She was 65 years old and lived a life full of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Born on May 22, 1959, Susan was the daughter of Keith Swearingen and Joan Faucett. She grew up alongside her beloved siblings—Mary, Francie, Cindy, and Jerry—sharing in the joys and trials of life with the fierce loyalty and no-nonsense attitude that became her trademark.

Susan was the kind of woman who took no bullshit but gave endless love to those she held dear. Her children—Mathew Hopkins, Nicklas Swearingen, Stephanie Hurley, and Nicole Swearingen—were her greatest pride, and she made sure they always knew they were loved, supported, and encouraged to stand tall just as she did.

She lived life on her terms, facing challenges with grit and determination. Whether through her sharp wit, her protective nature, or her unshakable love for her family, Susan left an impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. Her legacy of strength and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A service to honor and celebrate Susan’s life will be held at Monte Vista Cemetery on 2/22/2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a memory of Susan, tell a story in her honor, or simply take a moment to hold your loved ones close—just as she always did.

Rest easy, Mom. Your love and strength will never be forgotten.
