Susan's obituary
Susan (Corrigan) Scholz, a compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2025. Born on December 1, 1950, Susan lived a life defined by unconditional love for her family, a passion for life, courage, and resilience.
Susan is survived by her loving sons, Brian and Mark Scholz, daughter-in-law Nancy, and her pride and joys, grandsons Jared, Owen, and AJ, and granddaughter Molly. Her siblings Bill Corrigan, Jane (Nick) Milano, Mary (Bob) Schmit, Rob (Sue) Corrigan, the late Patrick, the late Richard (Daphne) and adored Aunt "Woozy" of many nephews and nieces also filled many chapters of her life.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Chuck Scholz, the hero of her story. On August 14, 1971, Susan entered into a blissful marriage that lasted for almost 50 years, until Chuck’s passing. She fondly referred to her wedding day as one of the happiest days of her life. She was blessed with two sons, who were her pride and joy. The birth of her grandchildren added another layer of love and happiness to her life.
Susan was a warm, talkative, kind and caring woman who showed immense strength and courage throughout her life. She was known for her welcoming nature, her beautiful smiles, and humorous stories. Susan loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and supporting causes such as Breast Cancer Awareness.
Susan found joy in the simple things in life. She loved savoring Coca Cola, and her palate always found delight in chocolate (especially Fannie May). She loved the music of Neil Diamond, watching performances of Les Miserables and cheering for any team her husband supported. Susan found peace and joy anywhere her family was present, which she captured by saying that her favorite vacation spot was "anywhere her family was located".
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Alexander Catholic Church on Saturday, July 12th at 11:30 am. Following Mass, family and friends are invited to gather for a reception at 1 PM at Fox's of Orland Park, 9655 W 143rd St.
Susan’s legacy is her unwavering love for her family, her strength, and her kindness. She left us with lessons of compassion, strength, and courage. She would often say that her greatest accomplishments were her husband and her children. Her enduring love will be cherished by all who knew her.
Susan has joined her husband Chuck, and though she will be missed by us all, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
