Eau Claire, WI- Susan Schappe was born April 17, 1940, and passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017; her daughter Tia and son-in-law Jim at her side. She married James Schappe on December 26, 1959. Sue enjoyed time with family, grandchildren, boating, overall fitness, reading, traveling, and playing bridge with friends. Her love of kayaking in the Florida mangroves was second to none. Sue and Jim enjoyed the last 20 years living in Florida, where they "never got tired of that view", as well as shared numerous holiday and spring breaks with their kids and grandkids at the pool, beach and lanai for cocktails and dinner. Sue was preceded in death by her parents John Thiele and Betty Leibl, and daughter Cheri. The recent passing of her husband Jim and her dear sister-in-law Bernita are especially sentimental. She is survived by her son Jeff(Sheri Thompson), and daughter, Tia(Jim Embke); grandchildren, Alec Embke, Patrick Schappe, Holly Embke and Robert Schappe; siblings, Jay Thiele, Patricia Thiele Beard; brother and sister-in-laws Robert (Glory) Schappe and Rosemary (Patrick) Croft; and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for both Sue and Jim will be held this spring, with details at that time.
