Susan Scafuri passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2023 at age 69 surrounded by her loving family. Susan was a devoted sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Susie” to those both inside and outside of her family.

She was born to John and Isabel Scafuri on July 24, 1953. She grew up in Kearny, New Jersey, and graduated from Kearny High School. After graduating from high school, she worked for many years, ultimately retiring from Rutgers University/UMDNJ in 2019 as a Program Coordinator. She expressed great care for many of her Rutgers colleagues and their families, always speaking highly of her experiences there.

“Aunt Susie” built a reputation for wholeheartedly and uniquely loving each one of her nieces and nephews. She devoted herself to caring not only for them, but also their spouses, children, and friends, treating everyone as if they were her own family.

Susan was predeceased by her sister Janet (Scafuri) Lesser and her brother Thomas Scafuri. She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Scafuri) Kwiatkowski, her brother Michael Scafuri, and her sister Sharyn (Scafuri) Brohm.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, February 4 at Mendham Hills Community Church at 480 Route 24, Chester, NJ 07930.
