Always enjoyed my time with Sue, both professionally and socially. She was a wonderful nurse anesthetist, very knowledgeable and compassionate to all her patients. As a PACU nurse, I was always grateful to be on the receiving end of her anesthesia technique. She was wonderful caring for all ages but did a great job with the many children we cared for at the Surgical Center in Lancaster. I also  have fond memories of our beach stays in Avalon and Fenwick Island. She loved her family's very much. Prayers for all those she loved dearly.  Linda Lautsbaugh

Kelly Kulak kept saying " You need to meet my friend, Sue." Susan and I finally met at a WW2 event. We worked together to honor the nurses of WW2.

This past summer, I saw her eyes sparkle as she looked at the finished 44th evac hospital that she spearheaded the creation of.

Our weekly conversations about history, current events,  books, & music were engaging and are now treasured memories. She was an adviser who I always could depend on for an honest opinion. Most of all, Susan was a friend.

To have been given the gift of calling her "friend" is a true blessing.

My wife Sandra and I were shocked and deeply sadened over Susan's passing. She was a good neighbor and friend and always helpful in any medical question or issue. We had many interesting  conversations about Naval history and the history of the Naval Nurse Corp. about which she was very proud. She was particularly helpful to us in a recent medical issue where she was obviously happy to help and share her expertise.. We will miss her very much.

With condolences-- Gene Mollica

I met sue when I was a student in anesthesia school. I then, years later, worked with her at the Spring Ridge Surgicenter. We became very close friends, and she was like an aunt to my daughters. I did get her involved in the World War II reenactment and we had so much fun doing these events together. Sharing memories from the Navy and learning World War II history. I truly will miss you my dear friend.

My wife and I moved into the Regency at Readington 4 years ago. Met Susan walking her dog Luca while walking my dog Magic. Perhaps I should say while Luca was walking Sue. Both dogs would play together.  Sue was a dear sweet person I will miss. Magic already misses Luca. She will be missed by our entire community. ❤️

Sue and I played glockenspiel in the C.E. Cole Jr High band in 1965.  Al Leader, the director, thought it would be a great idea, since we didn't have a piccolo player, that she and I could play that part on our "bells"  in the chorus of Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever. It was a huge challenge for us, but we pulled it off for the concert that year.

This memory has stayed in my heart all these years because Sue and I had so much fun practicing together, laughing constantly and congratulating each other when we succeeded. She was a great friend and band pal who went on to become a terrific, loving & caring lady.  She will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Sue’s passing.  She was a very skilled anesthetist & always kind & professional & willing to teach and share her knowledge.  I really enjoyed working with her at the Health Pavilion Surgical Center in Lancaster.  My condolences to her family.  Prayers to you,

Heather Hershey
