Susan's obituary
Susan Malcolm Jordan Domato, 80, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on October 20, 2023 after living over two courageous years with glioblastoma. Born on May 21, 1943, in Weymouth, MA, Susan was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her kindness, selflessness and generosity, always doing whatever she could to help others in need.
Susan spent her childhood in Norwell, MA, graduating from Norwell High School and then Westfield State College with her master's in education. While working summers during college at Lost Wilderness Dude Ranch in Sandisfield, MA, she met her future husband, Ralph Domato. After marrying in 1966, they raised their family in Enfield, CT. When Ralph retired in 2000, they moved to Port Charlotte, FL, where Susan continued working as a teacher for several more years before retiring.
Susan dedicated her life to education, working as an Elementary and ESL Teacher in Scituate, Massachusetts, Windsor and Enfield, Connecticut, and Port Charlotte, Florida. She had a passion for teaching and made a positive impact on the lives of her students.
Outside of her career, Susan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved traveling, going on cruises, and indulging in a good book. She got together regularly with her "Dinner Club," a group of former teachers that remained close. Susan had a way of caring for the people around her that made each feel uniquely special.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph Louis Domato, loving daughters Barbara Beeson (Robert), and Pamela Ferris (Fred), sister Nancy Kirkpatrick (Earl), brothers Allen Jordan (Linda), Peter Jordan, Paul Jordan (Sandy), grandchildren Jace, Kyler, and Brennan Avellino, Ellie and Maddie Ferris, Ryan and Gavyn Domato, great-grandchild Layla Avellino, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Barbara (Bremner) Jordan, and son, Steven Domato.
A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, October 24, at the Domato home in Port Charlotte, FL, where family and friends gathered to share special memories and pay tribute to Susan. Donations may be made in Susan's name to the Tidewell Foundation (Hospice) at TidewellFoundation.org.
Susan Jordan Domato will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her selflessness and kindness will forever be remembered and cherished.
