Susan  L. Gutek (Birtic), 69, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022.  Susan grew up in Waukegan, IL, and after graduating from Waukegan High School continued on to University of Illinois, and obtained her nursing degree from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1974.   Susan devoted her career to helping others as a Registered Nurse, followed by over 20 years in Human Resources at Abbott Laboratories.  She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, supporting animal rescue and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Sue & Randy were married in 1988, family was everything for Sue, never missing a game, recital, birthday, or graduation.  She loved to celebrate special moments with everyone she loved so dearly.  "Grandma Suzie" was a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren Faith & Chloe, passing on to them both her love of baking Christmas cookies.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Fred & Betty Birtic, and her grandson James Bergland.  She is survived by  her husband, Randy Gutek; her children Michael Bergland (Stacey), Kristen Koch (Eric), Christopher Bergland (Amira), Matthew Gutek; her two grandchildren Faith and Chloe Koch ; and her brother Cary Birtic.

Susan will be celebrated on July 17, 2022 at 2:00PM.  The family has requested all of Susan’s loved ones and friends to join in celebrating her beautiful life at the Morrison Memorial Picnic Center at Bowen Park 1800 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan, IL.
