Susan's obituary

Susan Lee (Greathouse) Schindler, 71, of Belton, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2025. She was born on June 8, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Wanda and Alfred Greathouse. She attended Belton High School and married Sam Schindler on January 24,1970. Sam and Susan had two children, Samantha and Shon. Susan enjoyed crafting, aerobics, camping and going to the lake. She was a member of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. She battled illness for much of her life, but she always did what she could to help others, based on her faith in Christ. Susan said, “I did everything possible to help my daughter and family live their most free and best life”.

She joined in Heaven, her father and mother, Alfred Greathouse and Wanda (Greathouse) Blanton; her sister, Cathy Hartsock; her grandparents, Victor and Anna Halstead; and her grandson, Trent Schindler.

Susan is loved and missed by her two children, Samantha Siems, of Gardner, Kansas and Shon Schindler, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; her siblings, Vickie ODell of Lawson, Missouri, Jan Lockard, of Harrisonville, Missouri, Jeff Greathouse of Stark City, Missouri, and Robin Blanton, of Warrensburg, Missouri ; her grandchildren, Carey Mullens, of Gardner, Kansas, Jerrad Siems of Gardner, Kansas, and Taryn Newsom, of Fairway, Kansas; her great-grandchildren, Noelle and Brady Mullens; as well as many nieces and nephews. Susan was very proud of all her family.

She is also greatly missed by her friends from Carnegie Village, ACG Hospice and Agape Hospice.

Per Susan’s wishes, her body has been donated to science through the University of Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and AGH Hospice Care. Celebration of Life will be held  on Friday, March 7, at 1 pm, at the Westley Chapel Resurrection Church in Leawood, Kansas.

Donations in honor of Susan may also be made to the ACG Hospice Foundation. The ACG nurses cared deeply for Susan in her final years. Call 866-260-2296 for donation information.
