Susan Marie “Woozy” Gilbert (née Swan) passed away on July 22, 2025, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by family. She died on her 71st birthday, a poignant bookend to a life marked by warmth, wisdom, and deep compassion.
Born on July 22, 1954, in Washington D.C., Susan was the daughter of Patricia Robedeau (Foote). She was raised in the Toledo area by Patricia and Robert Robedeau, growing up with strong family ties that would remain central throughout her life. Susan attended West Springfield High School in Massachusetts, where she began to cultivate the intellect and curiosity that would define her.
Known affectionately as “Woozy,” Susan was a loving and sympathetic woman whose presence could light up any room. Her vibrant spirit made her the life of many gatherings, while her thoughtful nature offered comfort and understanding to those around her. An avid reader with an old soul and an endless breath of knowledge, she had a remarkable ability to connect with people across generations.
Susan’s compassion for family and children was unwavering. She poured her heart into nurturing those she loved and created a home filled with warmth and acceptance. Her legacy lives on through her children: Erica (Sean) Holland, Christine Touchette, Ryan Burdo and his daughter Freya, and Rachael (Max) Burdo. Her devotion extended beyond immediate family to include her siblings—Steve (Deb) Robedeau, Mary (Scott, deceased) Bland, and Kenny (Jackie) Robedeau—as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her guidance and affection.
She was preceded in death by her beloved life partner Larry “Littl” Burdo; her mother Patricia Robedeau; and her brother Richard (Georgia) Robedeau.
Susan’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory will be carried forward not only through the stories shared by loved ones but also through the quiet strength and kindness she instilled in others.
