Susan's obituary
Susan Jackson was born in Iowa and joyfully adopted and lovingly raised traveling the country and becoming educated in all areas of life.
Growing up with her parents as community leaders within the Masons, Shriners, Lions Club and Rotary Club leadership; service, faith and education was always a priority so much that she became a Mason as a young adult. There was always a love of service, etiquette, humor, and hard work in the family.
After finishing Albia High School and graduating as a Dean's List Graduate at Iowa Wesleyan University. she was eager for independence and made one of her family's favorite vacation spots in Loveland, Colorado her first home. She taught Kindergarten for 4 years and worked summers in Colorado. There she met her future husband from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. They married and made their home in Littleton, Colorado before moving to California.
Life was soon filled with the frenzy of children. She embraced motherhood fully, finding community among other parents including lifelong friends she met at this time. She was always involved in education, athletics and cared deeply about volunteering and making a difference in her communities.
She mastered her vision of building and designing her dream home and were active Church Elders. She made some truly amazing friends who stayed by her side to the end.
Her later years also brought a new role of “Grammy” with the arrival of her treasured grandchildren. She adored spoiling them with affection, surprise adventures, and non-stop support from the sidelines. She was their biggest fan and became the community "Grammy" for all their friends, teammates, coaches, families, and teachers embracing them daily with her smile, her jolly waves, and big hugs of encouragement. She remained a most trusted confidant to all who met her.
Her life was rich with family and friendships, experiences, and beautiful memories, all of which ended too soon. All those who had the joy of knowing her is better for it, and we take solace in the memories we shared together.
A Celebration of Life was attended by over 350 friends and family.
