Surekha's obituary
Surekha was born on April 10, 1953, to Pushpa and Babulal Shah in Mombasa, Kenya. She spent most of her childhood and early teen years in Mombasa before moving to London, England for further studies and work.
In 1974, Mom met Surendra Sheth, and they married on October 18, 1975. Mom worked for many different companies as a personal assistant. However, after the birth of her daughter Deepa in 1984, Mom decided to become a full-time caregiver and homemaker for her family.
In 1985, Mom, Dad, and Deepa moved to the U.S. (Michigan) where Surekha’s second child, Rahul, was born. Soon after, the whole family moved to Aurora, IL and eventually took up permanent residence in Naperville, IL.
When Mom had her children, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She excelled at inspiring her children, siblings, nephews, nieces, and friends supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others.
Mom had a vast array of different passions. She particularly enjoyed learning about new fashion trends, playing a dozen different card games, watching Hindi movies, planning dinner parties, and travelling to exotic destinations. When she was not at home filling it with warmth and kindness, she could be found with her friends playing canasta or traversing the landmarks of an exotic destination.
We will miss her greatly.
