Mrs. Sunny Lou Marek of Vestavia Hills, Alabama died peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021 following a long illness. She was born September 28, 1940, and grew up in Chicago, IL.
She was married for 58 years to her high school sweetheart, the late Dr. Charles R. Marek. Sunny was a loving wife and mother and is survived by three sons (Todd, Trent and Troy) and their families including seven grandchildren. She earned her Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Education from the University of Illinois and taught elementary school upon graduation.

Sunny moved to Vestavia Hills, Alabama in 1972 and was active for many years within her community. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed Book Club in addition to Garden Club, Supper Club, and Empty Nesters. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can make donations in her honor to Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at
4:30pm on Monday, October 11, 2021
at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.
Visitation will precede the service from 3:30-4:20pm.
