For many years my family stayed at Whitney’s home while we visited my brother C.J. for the Holidays. So, as it was meant to be, our paths crossed with Stuart’s at the most opportune time. We can be added to the large chorus of people whose lives were enriched by Stuart’s presence.

Bob and I were in the mist of navigating the middle school years, while dealing with life’s challenges and doing our best to raise our daughter to be true to herself, a self-thinker and independent.

I will be eternally grateful for the kitchen table chats shared by Stuart and my daughter. His instinctual understanding of her intellect and uniqueness made their conversations invaluable.

I’ll always remember our epic New Year’s game of charades that was accompanied by laughing so hard we all couldn’t catch our breath. Truly epic.

Perhaps, no less significant, thanks to Stuart teaching me how HE makes ginger bread houses, MY ginger bread houses will forever more have stained glass windows.

I am so sorry to not be able to attend after all, I caught a cold at NEFFA and do not want to spread it around to anyone else. Thinking of you all with love.

Stuart was one of our son’s first teachers at the Guilford school when we moved here 20 years ago, and maintained interest in - and contact with - our son via FB ever since. We are grateful for his presence in our lives. We extend our sincerest condolences for this loss.Ā

I only met Stuart in the Fall of 2023, when I started teaching at WNESU.Ā  I reached out to him for guidance and since that day he has been a like a mentor and a model of how to support our students.Ā  He was an integral part of helping students graduate, improving their literacy, and offering a calm and comforting place to build up their confidence.Ā  I didn't know Stuart well, but you didn't have to know him well to see what an amazing human and teacher he was.Ā  It was so clear in every interaction I had with him, and in how I saw him support my students.Ā  He is a huge loss to our learning community and I've enjoyed learning more about his life here - thank you.Ā  I very sadlyĀ  have another funeral I have to attend on May 3rd.Ā  I will be sending lots of thoughts of support to all who loved him.Ā  Gone way too soon.Ā

Always loved this one, it seemed to capture his essence.

Our condolences to everyone. It is such a shock to lose Stu, always so strong and vibrant.

We're glad we were able to see him and Zara last summer.

We were down in Pennsylvania when we got the news, along the Susquehanna, at the spot—his great grandmother's house—where Stu had some of his earliest river experiences.Ā

We are thinking of you all. We'll see you on May 3, as will my brother, Joe.
