I was a patient of Dr. Yellen for more than 40 years, and before that, his father's. Not only did we have the doctor-patient relationship but we were good friends also. He knew about my family, my unusual interests of trying to do acting later in life, my jobs, and we both loved baseball. We discussed sports, real estate, his family and everything possible. I was sad when he retired but very happy he was able to get to the west coast to be with his beloved family. By the way he was so proud of his family and I feel like I knew them also. His amazing assistant Raquel was also very wonderful and professional. It was great that he had his beloved dog "Wrigley"  go to work with him for so many years. He was a brilliant and compassionate doctor but a down to earth person. He will be sorely missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was also a blessing to every one of his patients!

Bob Sherwin, Attorney

I was blessed enough to have worked for this wonderful human being for over 21 years.  He was such compassionate and caring man, not only to his patients, but to all staff. Dr. Yellen, only God knows how much I miss you, your advices, our rides home together, your jokes, your sense of humor and listening to all your endless stories. I have in my heart an inmense and eternal gratitude for you, for all your teachings, for allowing me to know you and to work for you  all those years until the day you retired. You will always be loved and missed...

Omg Dr Yellen was a big part of my families lives he was my mom's cardiologist for years and saved my mom in so many surgical procedures may he rest in Heavenly Peace n thank you
Steven and I were first cousins.  Every Sunday as children we met at our grandmother's house, 4811 N. Monticello Chicago.  Steven was the youngest of the boys which put him at a bit of a disadvantage.  He was a bright boy, and it didn't surprise me that he went into medicine.  I wish his family well.

Dr Yellen was a champion for his patients’ he surely will be missed. My heart felt condolences to the family. I am sure He is having fun with Wrigley in the great beyond. Rest in peace my dear colleague you surely will be missed.
When I first finished my orthopaedic residency I worked at a clinic with Harry, Steve's father, at a time when Steve was finishing medical school. Imagine my surprise when we both ended up on  staff at  the original Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital -- before it changed hands a number of times. Steve was a great friend,  and we occasionally played golf and poker (at which time I always lost), and he cared for so many of my own patients with cardiac issues. His sense of humor was wonderful and unlimited. In addition Steve was my personal physician for decades, and I am certain that I am alive today because of his concern and care. He handled his own life stresses so rationally that he was an example to all of his friends. I spoke with him on the phone just days before his death and he was so enjoying being  a grandfather. My love to his family. I miss him.  Mike Treister
