I was raised in Tyler, Texas, just as Steve and Jan were. Steve and I attended the same church together and  youth group. Our parents were friends. I can always remember his lovely parents. I also attended Robert E. Lee High School with Steve being a class ahead. Jan and I were bestie friends in Jr. High. So many memories of times gone by. We hadn't kept in touch through the years, but I know, without a doubt, that Steve was a good man, a salt of the earth kind of good man, a man of God.  A man who will be missed.

Friends… this loss hurts me so much. He was as fine a man as I ever worked with. Met him at Hess in the mid 80s. Like me, we came up hands on in our oilfield life. Steve was loved by all who knew him at Hess. We reconnected at Montgomery Methodist church. I rarely missed Sunday class & loved his teachings. Lord, hear my prayers for his wonderful wife & family.  Steve will be missed by all of us who loved him.
I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing.  Steve and Jan were such amazing and kind people.  My son played football with Steve's son Brad, and we were blessed to have been able to meet the Freeman's and spend many weekends and weeknights with them watching football games, tournaments and practices.  Both Steve and Jan were always willing to do whatever was needed to help the boys and the league.  Although we lost touch over the years, I will never forget those times and their kindness.  Thank you both for always making everyone feel important and loved.  He will be missed by everyone whose lives he has touched; for every life he touched he made better.

Steve was amazing. He loved and helped so many on this planet. Jesus saved him from suffering and now he’s with Jesus. Prayers lifted up for Jan and family. We’ll miss him✝️

Steve was a great man who served God and loved the State of Texas. I met Steve thru a longtime association with his passion for cooking great BBQ and his serving his community and those in need during floods and bad times. He was a always with Jan and his love for his family was always his greatest love. His storytelling was always something we looked forward to a QFest where he continued to work on his BBQ cooking. He will be missed by so many who were fortunate to come into contact with him during his life. Rest in Peace my friend. Prayers to his family and you will be missed by all of us who knew you and loved what you did
