Steve Stafford, age 72, of Middletown, Indiana, passed away on Thursday June 1, 2023, while surrounded by his loved ones. Steve was born in 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Doris and Roger Stafford. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his stepmother, Helen Stafford; and his brother, Kevin Stafford. He is survived by his loving fiancé: Vicki King of Anderson, Indiana; his three daughters: Jean of Carmel, Indiana, Dana of Carmel, Indiana, and Kat of Anderson, Indiana; grandchildren Chelsea (Jean), Grace and Tre (Dana), Scarlett Athena and Wynter (Kat).

Steve graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1969 and went on to do many things including driving a wrecker, volunteering as an EMT at the local fire department, drag car racing, painting cars, and was even a helicopter pilot. It was after working as the superintendent of a golf course that Steve realized his passion was for landscape design and in 1989 he started his own business, The Designing Touch Landscape. In 1996 Steve moved himself and his business from Carmel, Indiana to Middletown, Indiana where he quickly became actively involved in the community. In addition to running his landscaping business Steve was also the Chairman of the Middletown Community Food Pantry and was instrumental in the development, and implementation of the program which helps to feed low-income families in the community.

Steve had a zest for life and always had time for and took interest in helping people. Steve loved being outdoors, going camping, working on cars, building hot rods, and spending time with his loved ones. He loved being around kids and some (most) would even say he was a big kid at heart. He was a fan of Walt Disney, classic cars, 50’s diners, Corvettes and Donald Trump. He was a longtime member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club of Indianapolis and an honorary member of the Mickey Mouse Club 😊. He always enjoyed a good debate about things he felt strongly about and never turned away a chance to speak his mind. He raised his girls to be independent, outspoken, hard-working and to always have fun. We’re going to miss you, Daddy!

A small informal memorial for Steve will be held Sunday July 16th, 2023, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at 158 S. 8th Street, Middletown, Indiana 47356. We invite you to stop by and share some of your memories as we celebrate his life.
