Steven's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steven "Benny" Pounds, who left us on December 13, 2025. Born on July 18, 1956, Steven was a pillar of strength, known for his radiant personality, filled with joy, humor, kindness, intelligence, and an exceptional work ethic.

Known fondly as Benny to some, Steven preferred his given name in formal dealings and among close family. A resilient and hard-working individual, he served as a mechanic at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAFB) for over two decades. This tenure stands as a testament to his dedication, discipline, and diligence. Yet, he was not merely a mechanic - he was a mentor, a friend, and a father figure to many around him.

Steven shared invaluable life lessons, teaching many how to be strong, independent, and dedicated in their work. He modeled these virtues in his own life, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire others. Despite his demanding job, he always managed to keep a happy demeanor, lighting up the room with his larger-than-life personality.

He is survived by his daughter, Keyona Dennis-Wooden and grandchildren. A significant part of his legacy is the successful mechanic business he leaves behind, a tangible reminder of his industrious spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence. He will be greatly missed by Keyona, other family members, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by his incredible spirit.

Steven's legacy remains in the hearts of all who knew him. His story is not one of an ending, but a continuous journey that inspired and continues to inspire. His life was a lesson in courage, resilience, and the power of a positive attitude. Though we mourn his death, we celebrate his life and all the extraordinary things he accomplished.
