My heart just skipped a beat when I learned of this today! Reading the memories and condolences are a  direct reflection into our high-school years! Oh my, time is a thief! Steve White you made so many memories for us!
I met Steve also when he was 14 and I was 15. We started school at New Life Academy or occa. My younger brother Roland went there also we became all became friends and of course the guys being closer doing more things together but we were over at Steve's house we would go to pick him up he would still be in bed with his clothes on ready to go but not awake yet. We visited his house often and there was a group of us in our small school as you can imagine we all stay close it was an honor to know him he was very smart and funny we sure will miss you Steve.

I met Steve White at 14 years old in High School. This was a private school OCCA and or New Life Christian Academy. We hung together as a group, Kevin Severe, Steve White [Whitey] and myself Roland Rocka. We had most things in common as we all drove at age 14, yes it was a different world back then and we stayed out of trouble.

Steve and I had trucks and we liked hot rodding and horsepower! It was common to get each other chrome parts and such for our trucks, when celebrating Birthdays.  We loved the pavement and the dirt roads. Growing up in the country, like we did, had benefits for hot rodder's like us. Our parents eventually made us buy our own tires since we tended to go through the rear ones quite quickly!

Our attendance to the private school was a blessing in disguise to us and we later figured that out. Jerry Laird [the principle] taught us to be responsible and to love God and our country.

We had a host of other friends and remembrances of friends at this small school. Many of them names I cannot recall.

Here are a few:

Kevin, Kelly, Becky, Mike, Cristy, Stacey, Carolyn, Paige many great Teachers.

We often spent the night with each other, met each other a few times in Port O Conner, Texas and just hung out doing what teenagers and young adults do. I knew Steve White as well as anyone did. He did struggle with a sleeping disorder, but we loved him anyway!

After graduation from high school and before social media, Steve and I remained in contact. I was in night college and working in the oilfield and Steve was in FT College. We got together on the weekends and eventually, I was married and we both purchased Mustang GT's. Modifications started immediately to make more power!

It was about 1992, that I lost contact with Steve White. There was no social media. I moved south of Houston to LaPorte, and when Facebook opened, I eventually tried to reach Steve but got no real response, eventually reaching out to his daughter Missy, but Steve would not respond.

Steve told me once how difficult it was for him to loose his sister Cathy White, who we all loved dearly. It was understood as far as I was concerned that Steve suffered depression from this event [just my point of view]

I recently built a home in Magnolia, Texas at High Meadow neighborhood in Magnolia and that is just a short distance from Pinehurst. I could not seem to locate  Linda and John White's house or the home of Nancy and Bobby Lee [their neighbors] The area had just changed so much!

I do regret not trying harder to reach my old friend, RIP my brother.

Steve was a part of a group of buddies that rode skateboards and camped out at Spring Creek Park. I was drawn to him by his considerate nature, love of science, and philosophy of life (before we knew what the word meant). He attempted to include me in his new circle of friends at New Life Academy, but eventually, we drifted apart. My deepest condolences to all of his loved ones.
