Steven's obituary

Steven John Moen passed away suddenly on June 26, 2023 in Switzerland while on vacation.

Steven was born on October 29, 1956 to Alton and Nancy Moen in Everett, WA. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1975. After high school he graduated from DeVry Institute and later graduated from City University in Seattle with a Business Degree. Steven believed in strong work ethic, working as a Quality Control Engineer loyal to Philips Ultrasound (ATL) for his entire career, retiring in 2021.

He was called “Coach Moen” for years, as he was a devoted coach for his son Lucas’ sports teams for years and his #1 fan. Later, he proudly took on the title of “Papa” when he stepped up to help his daughter Cherish raise her son Tevin, during her time of need. He had a heart of gold, always happy to help others and always doing the right thing.

Steven met his wife Connie later in life and she was the love of his life, they shared a passion for family values and the outdoors, their only regret was that they didn’t meet sooner. He set the bar for what a family man should be, thoughtful, loving, kind, and he found pure joy spending time with his family. While doing some yard work for his parents, his mom (Nancy) glanced out the window and saw him working alone and smiling, just a small testament to the joy he found in helping others.

Steven is survived by his loving wife, Connie, son Lucas (wife Ashley), daughter Cherish (husband Nathan), stepdaughter Tarrah and stepson Aaron (wife Alex). Grandchildren were his pride and joy, he spent much of his time with them playing games, fishing, reading stories, going on camping trips and teaching them about his love for the outdoors. Steven was “Papa” to his grandkids Paytan, Tevin, Katelyn, Sky, Jett, River, Clara, Stellan and Orin, and he was the best Papa ever.

Passing at such a young age, Steven is survived by so many people he loved to be acknowledged. His loving family, parents Alton and Nancy Moen, sisters Diane Pedack (husband Rick) and Carleen Sams (husband Greg). He was known as “Uncle Steve” to his nephews, David (wife Ann), John (wife Laura), Eric (wife Alyssa), Dan (wife Ariel), Brett (wife Kayla) and Michael, with which he had many fun years rough housing and watching them grow up.

Steven also leaves behind many cousins and lifelong friends. One said Steve was the definition of friend, always there for you and anyone who knew him, their life was better because of it.

He enjoyed Traveling, Fishing, Skiing, Golfing, Hiking, Kayaking and more. As an avid outdoorsman he loved teaching his family the skills they needed to enjoy the outdoors, leaving with them his legacy to carry on. He even had quite fun creating “camping 101” training programs for his grandson Tevin. His family finds some sense of peace knowing Steven passed away while traveling with his wife, doing what he loved with his true love, he spent his last day so very happy while touring a beautiful village in Switzerland, hiking, laughing, and even dancing! Although his life was cut far too short, he lived each day to the fullest, filled with people he loved and doing the things that he loved.

To honor Steven’s life, his family plans to continue sharing his passion for the outdoors and come closer as a family to keep his memory alive. For more details on the celebration of life or to share your own memories of Steven, please visit https://everloved.com/life-of…
