Dr.Lynch is one of my favorite professors from my time at LSUS. He was a great teacher and a nice man. I remember him often when I am out in my garden or stopping to admire the natural beauty of wildflowers. 

I knew Steven from his years at LSU. He was SUCH a great guy. Taught me that tomatoes were not a fruit or a vegetable. They were a berry!  I’ve never forgotten that and have passed that little tidbit on to many people over the decades. I loved Steven. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing.

My condolences to Steven's family. I first met Steven when I was a young boy almost 20 years ago, after he and my Mammaw, Jean Harper, began dating. I still remember many of the times my brother and I were at their house and we would go into his office to see countless pictures of plants and insects. It always fascinated me to see the photos he took of wildlife and how much he loved science and nature. He would often share his knowledge with me as well as my brother and cousin. We could tell he loved to teach, even if it was for just a few minutes. He would always share his pictures of wildlife with us and tell us about a book we should read. We would talk about fishing, music, and science. As I got older, we even talked about politics and relationships. It was all for the sake of learning and forming perspective, two skills he truly helped me with as I knew him. Steven always treated my Mammaw, and us, like true family with love and compassion. He was a great man in several ways and he will be missed. Even though we were not blood related he was like a grandfather to me. I hope for good health and prosperity to the rest of his family.
