Steven's obituary
>Steve, 78, of Washougal, Washington, died unexpectedly on September 27, 2025. His loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
>Steven, better known as Steve, was born on February 18, 1947, to Lauren Day Locke and Georgie Anne Fairbanks in Stockton, California. Steve attended many different schools due to the growing community in the Campbell area. He graduated from Blackford High School in Campbell, California in 1964. After graduating high school, Steve worked and joined the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernadino, California, when he met Catherine Snedegar. They married August 3, 1968, and went on to have 3 children. In 1978, the family moved to Salem, Oregon, where they lived on a small farm for 11 years while he worked in the oil filtration industry.
He started his own oil filtration business, Filter Technologies, Inc, and as it grew he and his family relocated to Washougal, Washington in 1989 to be closer to his customers and decrease his time commuting. In 1994, Steve and his wife divorced and he remarried his second wife, Diana Hill. After marrying her he traveled between Chico, California, where she lived with her children and Vancouver, Washington, for a few years. He went on to adopt her three children and the family eventually moved to Camas, Washington. After 17 years of being a business owner, Steve sold his company and retired in 2003. Following his retirement, Steve went on to build a log house with his wife and live there part time for the next 8 years. He and Diana divorced in 2012 and Steve went on to live in Carson, Washington full-time, enjoying the outdoors and peaceful surroundings. He enjoyed having his grandchildren visit and spending time with them, sharing fun facts, and teaching them about things that he had learned throughout his life. He spent some of his spare time assisting in the building of homes in the area with a friend and increasing his knowledge in woodworking and construction.
He enjoyed woodworking, helping his friends, shooting at the range, and traveling. Anyone who knew Steve, knew that he had a passion for learning, discovering new things and cooking. He was well loved by his close friends, family, and especially his grandchildren. Steve’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
