Steve was a fantastic person and great teacher.  He taught students in Coos Bay, Oregon on wood shop and small engines, and he taught others the woodworking and craftsmanship for home projects.  If you’re going to do it, do it right.  While we will miss him here an earth, we can take comfort he’s reunited with Jo—probably fixing up one of God’s projects in Heaven.  Although, I can see God shaking His head thinking it wasn’t actually broken.  We miss you Steve.  Our thoughts and prayers go to Kim, Cindy, Jon and all the other friends and family.

Wayne and I wish to extend our condolences. Sometimes,  it's difficult to know how a loss like this will affect us. Let your heavenly Father carry you through any difficulties you may have.  We love you,  Kim,

Rachel and Wayne

"Mr. Lane" as I knew him, was my teacher in high school in shop class, teaching me about small engines.  I got a D- on a torque test, but got to retake it later and passed.  But I truly deserved the bad grade and overcame it with Mr. Lane's help.  He was part of my personal success to become and have a career in mechanical engineering.  One of my most memorable teachers I will never forget.
Steve and Jo were always so welcoming and fun to be around. I would say they were very free spirited. Although we didn't get a chance to be with them a ton growing up I was blessed to know them and spend some extended time with them in their home in Oregon. Although it hurts my heart to know he is no longer here on earth I know he is so much happier with the Lord and his beloved Jo!

I remember very fondly the time I went with my grandparents, Ron and Sally Mickelson, to OR. We stayed for awhile with Jo and Steve in their amazing house in OR. I have so many memories from that stay. That pool was AMAZING! I remember the tile work like yesterday. I also remember my amazement over the geckos with bright blue tails. Steve made sure to tell me how if you scared them, their tails would fall off, which made them even more awesome.

I think my fondest memory of all for that trip though, and of Steve overall was him bringing me out to teach me how to drive. I was 14 and going into high school so of course I took him up on his offer. I remember it was a old manual truck and he brought me out on their driveway, which was very steep. I may have almost took out that iron gate but Steve was so patient and just laughed. I think we did quit after that incident though ha.

I wish they had liver closer to us and I could have seen them more. Both him and Jo sure would have gotten a kick out of my kids.

Rest easy Steve and say hi to Jo for me.
