Steve's obituary
Steven “Steve” Elliott Korson
September 8, 1961 – March 31, 2025
Steven “Steve” Elliott Korson, age 63, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on March 31, 2025, after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. It is our hope that he has entered into eternity, free from the pain of this world, worshipping his Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Korson; his daughters, Taylor Korson and Caroline Weeks (Levi); and his precious granddaughter, Selah Weeks, who brought him tremendous joy.
Steve strived to go above and beyond to exceed the expectations of those around him. He poured himself into his work and community, faithfully serving as general manager at Pine Tree Country Club, Inverness Country Club, and, most recently, Hoover Country Club. He was known for his strong work ethic and how he uplifted those around him. Steve influenced others by mentoring, lending a hand to friends, and demonstrating perseverance through all circumstances. Beyond work, Steve found joy in woodworking, cheering on Alabama, and cracking a joke to anyone who would listen. He was an encourager, craftsman, family man, and a believer in Jesus Christ.
Steve’s life will be celebrated at Hoover Country Club on April 6, 2025. A time to gather with family and friends will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. We will begin the celebration of life service at 3:00 pm.
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:4-6
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Thailand missions opportunity or Equip of Alabama.
Last year, Tracy attended a trip to Thailand partnering with a local church to provide medical services, caring for orphans, teaching english at a local school, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ’s salvation through each of these interactions. It was one of Steve’s last wishes that Tracy would return on the trip this year. Though we do not know if that will be possible, you can support a scholarship fund or the orphanage directly by clicking the link below and selecting “Missions - Thailand Orphanage Support” or “Missions - Thai Mission Trip Scholarships”.
Steve also saw the value of employing people with disabilities. Through his personal experience of employing these individuals, he believed strongly that people with disabilities brought more value to a company. His passion for seeing the strengths and abilities of others will be greatly missed. Equip is a nonprofit organization that supports adults with intellectual disabilities through employment, skill development, and community integration. Donations can be made below in Steve’s honor.
