Steve's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steven “Steve” Allen ,of Port St. Lucie, FL who departed this life on June 22nd, 2024 at the age of 66 in Stuart, FL. Born and raised in Dundee, IL and Carpentersville, IL, Steven was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Steve was born on September 27th, 1957, to Charles Allen and Florence Allen (Struke) in Elgin, IL. After graduating from Dundee High School in 1975, he landed his first job at Quiltmaster for 10 years. In 1981, he met Leeann Kotal, and they wed on June 14th, 1981, going on to have three children, Heather, Shawn, and Cory.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Heather, Shawn, and Cory and always tried his best to support them.
In 1993, Steve embarked on a new journey by moving his young family to Florida and establishing his own business, Custom Window Designs. There, he created and designed custom window treatments until his retirement in 2012. He and his wife, Leeann celebrated 34 years of marriage before Leeann’s passing in 2015.
Steve is survived by his three loving children, daughter Heather Allen, and sons Shawn Allen, and Cory Allen. He took great pride in his family, and his legacy continues through them. His son Cory and daughter-in-law Amanda blessed him with four wonderful grandchildren: Alexis, Ariel, Derek, and Dylan, who brought immense joy to his life.
Steve was reunited with his cherished wife, Leeann, in heaven. He was also predeceased by his father Charles Allen, his adoptive mother Irene Pearson (née Allen), his biological mother Florence Allen, and his sister Barbara Allen (Dugan). He leaves behind his sisters, Mary Mulhall and Linda (Jeff) Watt, brothers-in-law, Douglas Kotal, and Keith (Linda) Kotal, his nieces Melinda Dugan and Melissa (Sean) Ewart, and his nephews Brad Rogers, Brian Rodgers, Jason Watt, Christopher Kotal, and Ryan Kotal.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Steven was an avid fisherman and a passionate youth baseball coach in his younger years. He was a devoted fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins, and he found great joy in classic rock music, especially the legendary Jimi Hendrix.
Steven’s warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
A celebration of life honoring Steven will be held on July 27th, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Jensen Beach Causeway.
