Steve's obituary

Steve Smyth aka “Smitty” passed away suddenly at Stamford Hospital on October 10th after dying of Sepsis. All who knew and loved him are still in shock. He leaves behind not only his family, but a legacy of friends. His mom, Carol (Smyth), his brother Paul (Smyth - Sylvia), and their son Hunter who he adored. Additionally, his beloved children Michael Patrick and Caroline Rose (Smyth).

Steve was very loyal to Trinity Catholic High School and his friends there. After winning the State Championship, those boys were galvanized for life, He then went on to The University of Notre Dame and was blessed enough to find equally amazing people to be lifelong comrades.

Steve loved fiercely and he lived his life fast and hard. He protected all of us. He was generous - always wanting to be sure everyone was happy. He would not have wanted it any other way.

Steve and Karen’s (Karen Smyth) children will miss him so much. Michael and Steve started Scuba Diving this summer and planned to go on college trips. Karen plans to continue this in his honor and Sweet Caroline is, and will always be “Daddy’s Little Girl.’ Everyone will miss him. But if he leaves a legacy, it should be “to enjoy the moment and don’t take anything for granted”.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to Michael and Caroline’s Education/College Fund.
