Steve's obituary

Steve Norman was born on July 18th,1953, to Bill and Meda Norman in Long Beach, CA. His father taught him to fix cars at an early age and later he was trained to be a general contractor which began his love of working with his hands and understanding mechanics and engineering. Steve had an amazing ingenuity to solve difficult problems, in original, clever, and inventive ways. In any project he undertook he was able to implement this talent and create the technical equipment, tools and machinery required. Steve received his associates degree in Business Management and was certified as an EMT which allowed him to volunteer as a fireman for the town of Julian, CA for a number of years..

Steve was part of a revival in CA in the 1970’s that kindled a hunger for more of God. In 1980, Steve went to Guatemala in search of more of God having heard of the amazing things God was doing in a church called Verbo in Guatemala City. On this trip, the Lord orchestrated every detail that allowed him to meet who would later be his wife and love of his life, Aura Elena Norman. On November 13th, 1982, Steve and Aura were married in the church of Verbo in Antigua, Guatemala. He brought her back to the United States and built a house for her in Anza, CA, where they would raise their five lovely children, Lissette, Myra, Evelyn, Eric and Byron. Steve raised his children with humility, love, kindness and the fear of the Lord. He taught them what honor, devotion and consistency looked like, but most of all, what it meant to give your life to serve and love the Lord. Steve had a heart for the people of Guatemala, especially for the communities who were less fortunate. His dream was to be able to help those communities have access to the resources like water in order to be able to provide sufficiently for themselves and for their families. After sixteen fulfilling years of homeschooling their five children in Anza, CA, Steve decided to move his family to Bozeman, MT, where three of his children got married and made him the blessed grandfather of ten precious grandchildren. Before leaving this earth, Steve built another house in Three Forks for his wife, leaving her with a precious memento of himself. Steve and Aura’s wedding verse was: “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain” Psalm 127:1.

Steve was a hard worker, was very gentle and kind and was a man of few words but spoke loudly through his actions. He was fully present with the people around him and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, no matter how big or small the task.

Steve Norman went to be with the Lord on the 14th of January, 2022, at the age of 68 with his wife and children by his bedside. Steve joins his father Bill, his two sisters Barbara and Merlene in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, mother, and 7 siblings. He will be greatly missed.
