Just a little appreciation for Steve. Dear Steve sending you love wherever you are in this now. I trust you are flying free on some amazing epic adventure through the cosmos. Sending my love to Kaycheri and all of the family. We all miss you dearly. I hope we meet again someday, beloved. Until then, star-filled greetings to you in the cosmos. All my love on this 3rd anniversary of your passing from this world!
Unable to attend tonight due to illness, but my heart and spirit are there! Sending condolences to Kaycherri and all the family. Steve was a wonderful man. I will remember him always with great love in my heart!
Both Joel (as president) and Steve (as Executive Director) represented the New Energy Movement in Washington DC with professionalism and vision. It was a privilege to work with them both.
Shortly after I joined NEM, Steve and Kaycheri came down to join Oriana and I for a day at the Oregon Country Fair. In this picture, you can clearly see that they're high on life... and they always seemed to be. (Steve was known to get drunk on a bottle of water, but that is another set of tales.) Always interested in bettering themselves and the world, Steve and Kaycheri were a great couple… always young at heart, fun to be with, and basically “good people.”
It was always easy to resonate with Steve. He was inquisitive and fair-minded about everything, and our conversations were always stimulating and thought-provoking. Not only a good listener but a wise mirror, there was never a time —either in my personal times with Steve or while we were comrades in the mission of the New Energy Movement— when I did not come away inspired or edified in some way. And even when going through the harder times of his later years, he continued to approach life with all the verve that he had.
Steve Kaplan was an awesome man, and I’m going to continue to miss him.
I wanted to inform family that I can't actually attend the memorial service. That evening I will be teaching my final class of the term at Portland Community College & there is no option to change it. Therefore, I send my love, blessings & good spirit in honor of Steve & all involved.
I scanned in a delightful photo of Steve & Kaycheri which I titled the dapper couple at my wedding... it highlighted Steve in a mostly white suit holding a tiny yellow disposable camera & wearing sandals with socks. Both of them are engaged in lively conversation with an attractive young friend. {The picture didn't upload to this site!?!} It illustrates the free spirited, attentive, caring, intelligent, dear man that I knew for over 20 years. Bless his soul & all that knew him!
