Steve was born on June 5, 1962 ini Cavite, Philippines to Steve and Rosita Hodas. His grade school and junior high years were spent in New Jersey and eventually moved to Delano California with his beloved mother and his 2 siblings Henry and Lorna where he graduated from Delano High School. After high school he played Junior College football for a year until he sustained a shoulder injury. His journey then led him to join the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate, working in the engine rooms to get the boilers and ships engines running. His many years of service took him all over the world on multiple ships. His most notable were two carriers the USS MIDWAY, now a museum in San Diego and the USS NIMITZ which still sails to this day. His naval career started overseas in Japan and eventually brought him back stateside to California. While being stationed in Lemoore, CA in 1987 he was lucky enough to be on gate guard duty when his future wife rolled through the gate to work that morning. He checked her ID and just had to know who she was. Steve and Debra got married on May 26th, 1990 gaining not only a wife but two beautiful step daughters Angela and Amanda.
Steve took his family to Guam for his next duty station for a few years and eventually ended up in Bremerton, WA where his daughter Allandra was born on October 21, 1994. He finished out his naval career in Washington and retired as a Machinist Mate First Class on October 31, 1996. While looking for work he applied to the Las Vegas Metro Police Academy and was accepted; sending him and his family down to Las Vegas, NV where they would put down their roots. Through different jobs and navigating life he ended up working at the Nevada Test Site as a Planner and Nuclear Maintenance Superintendent for all things electrical, carpentry and more.
Steve's best friend and love of his life Debra enjoyed traveling the world together more than anything. Steve loved to give as much as he could to family, friends and even strangers. He was a loyal Raiders fan and enjoyed having beers around the grill to feed any and all. He had hilarious nicknames for every child and grandchild, to include the four legged ones, that he used while he gave sound life advice (sometimes repeated) and supported every sport and career endeavor.
Steve had an impact on every single person he met. He will be remembered and missed by each and every person who had the joy of knowing him and having a beer with him.
