Steve's obituary
Stephen Richard Dybsky of Muir Beach, California passed away at age 79 on August 1st, 2023.
Steve was born to Stephen and Margaret Dybsky on April, 16th, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. The oldest of 7 children, he attended St. Thomas More grammar school and Brother Rice High School, Class of 62", where he participated in football, hockey and earned an Eagle Scout award.
Steve attended The College of St. Mary’s in Winona, Mn, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He enlisted in the United States Navy and completed Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. As a Lieutenant JG he served as a Communications Officer on the Aircraft Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard that was deployed to the Vietnam campaign 1966-1967.
Following his tour of duty Steve embarked on a 25+ year career in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He served with distinction as a Special Agent first in the Seattle, Wa office and then several years with the San Francisco office. Steve worked in undercover operations, organized crimes cases, white collar crime investigations and was part of the FBI SWAT team for the west coast.
Steve’s position with the FBI brought him to the Bay area in 1970. He settled in the beautiful coastal area of Muir Beach where he built his family home. In this wonderful community, he and his beloved wife, Debra, raised their two children, Stephanie and Nick.
Upon retiring Steve was an avid golfer, skier and enjoyed participating in the docent National Parks Road Scholar program.
Steve returned frequently to the Midwest to attend important family events, college reunions, Bear games and family vacations in Michigan and Wisconsin. His great smile and hearty laugh always reflected the joy he felt while amongst his large extended family and friends.
Steve is survived by his wife Debra Dybsky, daughter Stephanie (Brian) Henley, son Nicholas Dybsky, granddaughter Skylar (Stephanie) Henley, grandson Tripp (Stephanie) Henley and Charlie (Nicholas) Dybsky, siblings Diane Dybsky of Chicago,Il, Thomas Dybsky (Mary) of North Oaks, Mn, Mary Pat (Paul) Coyne of Encinitas, Ca, John Dybsky (Cynthia) Downers Grove,Il and Nancy Campbell (Scott) of Chicago, Ill and 14 nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Margaret Dybsky and his sister Maureen (Brian) Madden.
