Steve's obituary
Steve Philip Benavente was born on January 4, 1982 and died on January 22, 2024.
In his forty-two years of life, he was always smiling and had a kind word or gave a hand to everyone he met. His family is profoundly saddened at his passing and will always remember his big heart and the way he loved to laugh.
He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 2000 before becoming a Millwright and Crane Operator. During his tenure he was known to be an exacting perfectionist and they say that his skills surpassed those of his father.
Steve was a natural athlete and excelled at anything that kept his attention. He enjoyed Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Football, Cross Country, Disc Golf, Bowling, and Mountain Biking, but his love for Surfing reigned above all.
He will be remembered for his overflowing love, generosity, kindness, humor, adventurousness, and for the way he looked at the world with a sense of wonder. And no one can forget his smile. He was truly a beautiful boy to all who knew him.
The love of his life is his daughter Kaia who survives him as well as his parents, Jes and Anita; his siblings Jes (Stacy), Trish (Josh), Rob, Nichole, and Shawn (Ashley); his nieces and nephews, Niko, Quin, Karyna, Sarah, Zack, Becca, Leia, Seth, Zoe, Aslan, Devon, Logan, and Remington; his loving aunts and uncles and many, many cousins. He also leaves behind a vast amount of friends who he loved like family and will always be welcome in ours.
