It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen "Steve" White, a beloved father, grandfather, husband. brother and friend. Born on February 8, 1947, Stephen passed away on December 26, 2023. Stephen was also affectionately known by many as Steve, but always held a preference for Stephen...emphasis on the "PH."
Stephen is survived by his wife, Irene Patricia Longhurst (Patti) and his cherished daughters, Emily Pohl and Molly Dahl, who held an incredible fondness for her father and his unwavering kindness, playful humor, and immense generosity. He was a thoughtful soul whose warm personality and light-hearted jests brought joy to all who knew him.
Throughout his lifetime, Stephen achieved numerous significant accomplishments, underscoring his dedication, hard work, and talent. Most notably, he served as the Chief Engineer for the Alaska Marine Ferry System, a role he pursued with great passion and expertise. His exceptional abilities and profound knowledge in his field truly made a difference, marking him as a respected figure in his profession.
Stephen also held the distinguished achievement of being a graduate from United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. His dedication extended into his athletic pursuits, where he became a collegiate scholarship athlete for both Football and Basketball. The tenacity, leadership, and sportsmanship he exhibited on the field and on the court echoed in every aspect of his life.
The legacy of Stephen is one of boundless kindness, extraordinary generosity, and profound love for his family. His life was a testament to these virtues, making a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. The world is undeniably richer for his presence and will continue to feel the effects of his benevolence for years to come.
