It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Kirk Smerey -- a beloved son, father, and friend, who left us too soon. Steve passed away on February 20, 2025 in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 49 -- leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories, laughter, and love.

Steve was born on March 18, 1975 in Denver, Colorado to the late and dearly-missed, Judy and Stan Smerey, who lovingly raised him and nurtured his early interests in football, baseball, snowboarding, and of course-- Star Wars. He shared a deep bond with his parents, who were constant pillars of support throughout his life.

Steve was the proud father of Camden Smerey, the absolute light of his life. Steve and Camden often played golf together, went fishing, spent time in the mountains, and frequented thrift stores hunting for treasures. Steve was fiercely proud of Camden and loved him unconditionally.

Steve graduated from Colorado State University in 1998, where he earned a degree in Technical Journalism. Professionally, Stephen excelled as a Sales Executive and demonstrated remarkable dedication to his peers and the art of human interaction.

As a man of many passions, Steve had an unparalleled appreciation for collectibles. He found joy and fulfillment in curating his collection, each piece a testament to his discerning eye for rarity and beauty.

Steve’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Steve was an unconventional thinker and always brought a smile to those he met. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a beautiful life, his travels, the remarkable son he brought into this world, and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
