I went to high school with Steve but with his attending some later reunions, a group of us managed to meet up with him when he was in San Diego visiting. He became a lovely, nice, gentleman. I will remember him always as a great photographer ! He will be missed by his friends here!!

Steve was a second cousin. Our maternal grandmothers were sisters. I didn't see Steve very much but remember him fondly when we were children. We lived in Northern California and he in Southern California. Have many good memories of those visits in San Francisco when he visited his Aunt Ida and my Grandmother. Will miss his adventures he shared on Facebook. God grant his family peace at this difficult time.

It was my pleasure to meet and work with Steve when we both found ourselves in the Life Sciences practice of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in the late 90’s. Steve was one of the first to offer me a warm welcome to the team and demonstrated a selfless commitment to helping me get up to speed.
Steve was one of the true talents in his knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and operations and was dedicated to finding ways to help companies become more efficient and effective in bringing new medicines to market. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Steve. His enthusiasm, energy and commitment to doing the right thing in the right way was truly admirable. He was a great colleague and a dear friend.
Since our days at CSC I had always hoped our paths might cross either personally or professionally again but, unfortunately, it was only to be on the pages of Facebook where I was able to gain a glimpse of his other talents in photography and his love for travel.
I would love to recount some humorous event or anecdotes that might characterize Steve during our time working together but all I recall is a very fine, engaging, dedicated colleague, who’s knowledge, work ethic and friendship was nothing short of inspirational.
I will truly miss him.

Uncle Steve and Aunt Mary introduced me to skiing when I was 16 after my family moved to Utah. My first day skiing with them was at Alta on a beautiful sunny day in February. I fell in love with the sport my very first day and spent more time on the slopes than I did in the classroom my first year of college. I will always be grateful to him for introducing me to something that brought me so much joy and many fun memories for over 40 years before I had to hang up my skis. You will be missed.

I was shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Steve’s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to Mary, his children and entire family.
My family and I lived next door to Steve and his family and we grew up together from elementary school through San Diego High.
There are so many memories of camping trips and family vacations, neighborhood parties, school activities and sports, summers at the beach, etc……
Rest in peace my friend.

First met Steve when I moved into the neighborhood and we started the third grade together. Many days on our bikes, hiking the canyons, playing board games on his living room floor and trading nights at each others house. Alice Scribner always had cookies and Gordon "Doc" Scribner would take us camping in the desert. Often thought of Steve and can't imagine a childhood without my buddy.
Best to Mary and his huge family.

I remember hauling heavy equipment up the John Muir trail on a warm day with my father, Ken, for Steve's large format camera. He got a very nice shot of Nevada Falls out of it. Uncle Steve and Aunt Mary were always so nice to us when we visited.

So many great memories of my Uncle Steve! Our father Dave was his older brother and Steve was only a few years older than my siblings and I. His stories of lifeguarding at Mission Beach and his camping trips with the family are favorites of mine. We had wonderful times in the mountains of Arizona as we were growing up and I always enjoyed following he and Mary's trips and photos from around the world. He was a kind, friendly, fun and adventurous man and he will be so very missed.

I worked with Steve at First Consulting Group in the early 2000s, where he was an elder stateman and mentor to many of us. We often traveled together to Europe and Japan. You all know how much Steve loved travel and also how much he enjoyed fine dining! Before our trips, Steve would always research the best restaurants, so we depended on him for that. Although Steve didn't drink, he would also check out the wine lists for those of us who did.
The photo that I posted was on a trip to Japan on behalf of a client. Steve picked out a great restaurant and we had a fantastic dinner. It turned out to be a bit more expensive than we thought, though! In the photo I posted, Ron was the project manager and the guy who was responsible for submitting the bill to the client, so after the bill came he was looking a bit green! All turned out well in the end.
I have lots of great memories of working with Steve, and after we both moved on from FCG we would often catch up at conferences where we would talk about family, former co-workers, and family history.
The love Steve had for his family was so very evident. My condolences to all of his family and friends.

Our deepest condolences to Mary, his children and grandchildren. Steve now rests in the arms of our Lord.
Steve an amazing and loving person will be remembered as a scholar, a world traveler, a talented photographer, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather of 23.
I have known Steve for over 65 years and was always in awe of his dedication to family and church. He was a very generous person. At our SDHS Class of '63 reunions (Go Cavers), he would donate one of his prize photographs as our grand raffle prize. He also held the class record for most grandchildren.
Although our Lord has called Steve home, he will not be forgotten by his family, classmates, or friends who had the honor and pleasure of knowing him. I will miss emailing Steve almost daily and sharing my silly jokes and, at times, misinformation which he would correct me on.
This world needs more Steve Scribners!

I first met Steve in 1984, to interview in Phoenix for a job with Bank of America in Hong Kong. I remember it not so much as an interview but more as a pleasant conversation with a capable and friendly man I’d like to work with. He hired me, and because of that I not only spent two and a half personally and professionally enjoyable years in Hong Kong, but also met and married my wife there. I owe him the life changes that brought me. Rest in peace, Steve.

His Family and our memories of him are his legacy. He will be surely missed by many. It is my sincere hope that his Family will somehow find a way to get over their tragic loss and move forward. May Steve Rest in Peace Forever…

Steve was the cousin closest to me in age. Our families were close and I remember so many shared holidays and trips to the beach. My favorite picture was of the two of us when we were about 5 on the beach eating watermelon. He was an important part of my life and I will miss him.

I was deeply touched when I heard the news of Steve's passing - being unaware of his health conditions despite recent communication. We have been friends for almost 30 years, starting with a business relationship and soon turning into friendship.
My thoughts are with Mary and their children and I wish them the strength to overcome this difficult loss together.

Steve’s passing took me so off guard. In recent years, when he was on the west coast, a group of friends from high school would meet him for lunch. Or say hi at a reunion. He nicely donated a beautiful photograph as door prize at one reunion..
He became such a lovely man so he shall truly be missed amongst his old classmates.
I am so sorry for the family's loss.
