Waiting for a Train Excursion into the Canyons
My sincerest condolences on Steve's passing.  He was an amazing person, colleague, mentor, boss and friend.  I have so many fond memories of Steve when he was at Langley and NASA HQ.  But one of my favorite recent memories was, after his retirement from NASA, running into him and Ann (completely unexpectedly) near Sedona, AZ, in April 2022 as we were waiting to take a train excursion into the canyons.  We are all fortunate and better to have known Steve on this Earth.

My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to you Ann, Kim, and Sarah.  Steve was both a mentor and a friend to me.  We had many discussions about leadership, career opportunities, and the transition from NASA to the commercial space industry.  Steve was a consummate leader and did an awesome job of leading NASA through a unique and challenging period during the COVID pandemic.  I will miss him dearly.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I'm so sorry. We are sending so much love to your family.
Kim, Ann, Sarah--I am thinking of you all right now, and I send you my deepest condolences and love. I am honored to have known Steve and I am so sorry for this loss from your family.

To Steve's Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Steve was a wonderful man, colleague, and friend. He always made those of us who worked with him better. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. May many wonderful memories of Steve help sustain you in the days ahead.

Dear Ann and family, my sincerest condolences for the loss of your husband and father, Steve.  May he be at peace.

With Sympathy

Shereen Hughes

We have lost a good man, an amazing leader, and a national asset. Will never forget your warmth and hearty smile, working together at Langley. Heartfelt condolences to his dear family and friends. Rest in peace dear Steve.
Steve was a remarkable man and I am so grateful I had the chance to work with him at NASA.  What an unbelievable leader he was, devoting his career to NASA and giving his all every day.  He led the Agency through COVID and during that time, I had the chance to work directly with him.  He leveraged every bit of his creativity, intelligence, thoughtfulness, patience  and grace in how he navigated the pandemic and the many people and mission decisions that needed to be made during that time.  I will always miss him, and am so glad I knew him.

We often refer to ourselves at NASA as a family; it sounds like a cliché, but it’s true. He called us by our first names at work, and we called him "Steve." That's the way it is at the blue meatball, and what a difference he made at NASA Langley and for the agency. Shared this link and my thoughts on social media because I wanted my family and friends to know this man and be inspired.

Steve left us on Thanksgiving Day, and I'm thankful to have known him. Go Giants.

This is a huge loss for the NASA family.  I remember presenting to Steve when he was the new Langley RD director and I was a young engineer.  He couldn't have been more excited and receptive to learn about our work, and was very supportive of our research.  Steve was a great leader for RD and carried those qualities all the way up the chain to the top of NASA, which was a major source of pride and trust for folks at Langley.  My deepest sympathies to his family.
The U.S. space program and America are better because of Steve Jurczyk.  He was an amazing man and the driving force behind so many NASA achievements.  He was extraordinarily smart, competent and dedicated to the agency.  He also had the highest moral character.  It is unusual for someone to demonstrate such excellence and at the same time be so humble.  Steve was a dear, trusted, and loyal friend.  I will miss him greatly.  NASA could not have had a better leader and America is grateful for his 32 years.
My sincere condolences on Steve's passing.  Jurz was a joy to know and work with.
I liked and respected Steve so very much.  It was an honor to work for him, and am saddened  to learn of his passing many years too soon.  My condolences to his family and loved ones.
I had the privilege to serve as one of Steve’s Associate Directors during some turbulent times (budget cuts, downsizing) and he was always positive and compassionate. He truly deserved all the recognition he received and I was proud to see him climb the NASA ladder to the very top!  When it was my time to receive my own recognition, I was secretly thrilled that the NASA Administrator had been called to Capitol Hill and that it was Steve that presented me my medal!    Truly a fine person and our loss here, but I have faith that we will meet again!
Steve was a friend first, then a mentor and a leader. He will be missed by all who had the honor of working with him. Our prayers to the family for the days ahead.
I was so shocked and sad when I heard the news of Steve’s passing. He was an amazing person who made everyone feel special. His laugh, huge smile, and funny stories made you always want to be in his meetings. He was a visionary with practical skills and knowledge. I  feel very lucky to have been able to work for him. Sending healing prayers and warm hugs.
