As a young boy, Stephen Hood loved playing baseball with his friends. He was always smiling, always laughing, and loved to play jokes. Even as a kid, Stephen was a natural athlete and had a passion for the game. Starting Little League at just six years old, he quickly became one of the best players on his team. He played all through high school, and was even offered a scholarship to play baseball in college.

Throughout high school, Stephen dedicated himself to becoming the best player he could be. He worked hard at practice, and spent extra hours in the batting cages. His dream was to one day play Major League Baseball, and he was determined to make that dream a reality. We shuttled him to every MLB game in the area and Stephen would delight in watching his favorite players hit home runs.

Stephen's sudden death was a shock to everyone who knew him. He was healthy, happy, and had his whole life ahead of him. His death is a reminder that life is precious and can be taken from us at any time. We should all cherish the moments we have with our loved ones, and never take them for granted. Our family is trying to continue Stephen's legacy by establishing a scholarship in his honor, to help other young athletes follow their dreams.
