Stephen's obituary

Stephen Allen Friedt, a gifted musician and guitar teacher from Hammond, Louisiana died unexpectedly on July 9, 2021 at his home.

Steve was born to boogie. As a young boy, he was full of spunk, contagious laughter and an eagerness to take on the world. His gentle heartedness and joyful soul were part of his personality from a very young age. Growing up in a military family, Steve traveled the world and loved his life in Germany and abroad. For the last 22 years, he worked at Lanier Music in Mandeville, Louisiana teaching guitar to students both young and old. His work ethic, passion for music and willingness to teach was never in question. He shared many stages with those in the music industry and brought his unique style with him everywhere he played. His musical range was classical, blues, jazz, rock and METAL! Throughout the years, Steve would go on to compete in Guitar Wars, Musician Shootouts, AxeOff contests and many more. He was crowned Guitar Gods Champion in 2018, something that he was very proud of and worked hard for. Playing his guitars, traveling and teaching were his greatest joys in life. Every day he lived his life through his music. Upon his passing, the Heavens began preparing for his soul-changing guitar riffs and mesmerizing solos. Although he will be deeply missed by all who had the chance to know him; his eternal home is guaranteed to be full of music, laughter, endless love and plenty of foosball games.

Steve is survived by his wife Marilyn Friedt, his brother Jeff Friedt (Faith), his sister Regina Friedt Beattie, his nieces Kaitlin Nave, Darla Friedt Mack and his nephew Jason Friedt. He is predeceased by his father Ralph Friedt, Jr., mother Violet Whitman Friedt, brother Jay Friedt and nephew Joshua Friedt. Steve also leaves behind his many friends, fans and talented students.

A memorial service is scheduled Monday, July 19, 2021 from 3:00-6:00pm at Mandeville Christian Fellowship Church: 1211 Hwy 1088, Mandeville Louisiana, followed by an after party/music-life celebration beginning at 7:30pm at The Green Room: 521 E. Boston St. Covington, Louisiana. Music and memories will be shared.
