Background

Stephanie loved German Shepherds, and adopted several from Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS) over time. She became a dedicated MOGS volunteer, helping in many ways but with special expertise in canine health. Over the years, her extensive experience with her own dogs and her background as a nurse and nursing instructor combined to give her a wealth of knowledge that literally saved the lives of many dogs.
.
One particularly massive contribution that saved several MOGS dogs was a special diet and treatment protocol that Stephanie developed, together with a veterinarian, created for a condition called Perianal Fistula (PF). PF is a terrible disease that had no real treatment and traditionally resulted in the dog being euthanized, but the diet and protocol Stephanie instructed MOGS about was the result of her struggle years ago to find a treatment for one of her own beloved dogs. Steph always freely shared her expertise with MOGS, and educated its volunteers on the holistic approach to treating canine health which has served MOGS and its homeless dogs well. And her impact has radiated well beyond MOGS – MOGS has freely shared Stephanie’s advice with both other rescues and dog owners, with many lives saved there as well.
.
We will miss Stephanie greatly and pray she is at rest with her beloved family, including a lifetime of her beloved dogs. THANK YOU for your kind support of this cause that was so close to Stephanie's heart.
