Stephanie's obituary

Stephanie Fitzpatrick, 75, passed away in Rockville, MD on October 23, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

Stephanie was born on April 21, 1947 to John and Claire Walsh in upstate New York and was the oldest of six children. She had two sisters, Chris and Carol, and three brothers, John, Kevin, and Patrick, who she loved dearly.

The Catholic faith was an extremely important part of Stephanie's life, even from a young age. After graduating high school from Gwynedd Mercy Academy, Stephanie entered the convent while also attending college at Gwynedd Mercy University.

While Stephanie did not ultimately take her final vows, after briefly pursuing nursing in Philadelphia, she continued to serve her faith through many years as a teacher in the private school system, including St. Philip Neri Catholic School in Linthicum, the former St. Timothy's Episcopal School in Catonsville, and Our Lady of Pompeii in Baltimore City. In addition, she volunteered at the Gift of Hope in Baltimore City, caring for AIDS hospice patients alongside the Missionaries of Charity, and was strongly involved as a Marian Catechist. Stephanie spent the last years of her career as the Director of Religious Education at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Baltimore, before becoming a resident on the campus of the All Saints Sisters of the Poor in Catonsville, assisting with their retreat facility. The All Saints Sisters were extended family to Stephanie.

Stephanie had four children who she would talk about to anyone and everyone. She is survived by her daughters, Erin and Megan (and son-in-law, Nathan), and longed to be reunited in Heaven with her sons, Ryan and Sean. She also had three grandchildren, Madeline, Caitlin, and Liam, who were her pride and joy, and she adored her white, fluffy cat, Charlie.

Stephanie was a zestful person and did not shy away from telling others what was on her mind! She was also creative and loved arts and crafts. She especially loved to sketch and was known to carry her sketch pad wherever she went.

Stephanie will be remembered most for the great love she had for her grandchildren, and her vibrant, creative spirit.

Stephanie was predeceased by her parents, sisters, and sons. She is survived by her brothers, daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 11am at St. Agnes Church, 5422 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Helping Up Mission, 1029 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD.
