Our hearts are broken to share the news that our beloved Stella Anastasia Newbill, 45, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born September 14, 1978, in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, she was the daughter of Dimitrios Kountourogiannis and Alice Popiel. Upon graduating in 1996, she worked in the retail industry for many years. Stella was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 16 and served her Heavenly Father for nearly 30 years in various congregations. In 2021 she married Lashon Newbill and spent her remaining years focused on her husband and sons. She loved her mother Alice and sisters Jennifer, Elaine and Emily very much and always stayed close to them even when distance kept them apart. Stella also leaves behind her very dear friends, Mirta Fisher and Renee Olomo, who have always been a constant in her life. She had a passion for cooking and was known for her sense of style. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and friends; her two boys were the world to her.

She was predeceased by her father Dimitrios Kountourogiannis and is survived by her husband Shon Newbill, sons Dominick and Demetrios Kountourogiannis, stepdaughters Alexis and Alaysha Newbill, mother Alice Popiel and stepfather Joseph Popiel, fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law James and Alfreda Nelson and Olin and Audrey Green, sisters Jennifer Mahon, Elaine Morgan and Emily Neal, brother-in-law Travis Neal, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Karen and Ryan Berry, Monica and Randall Kenny, Tawanda Foster, Wytina Gutierrez, and Charles King, Jr., step-grandmother Doris Popiel, nephews and nieces Katie Nix, Brianna Moore, KJ Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Nickolas Morgan, Alanna Herndon and Travis Neal Jr., and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the United States, Greece and Australia.
