STELLA A. JOHNSON, 89, of Hazen, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services were held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Mark Martin officiating.

Stella was born on June 22, 1930, to Alfonso and Alvina (Nelson) Rardon in Wales, ND. She was raised and educated in St. John, ND. She attended Minot State College for two years and then began to teach school in a country school in Solon, ND and then Egeland, ND. She married Robert Johnson on December 26, 1962, in St. John, ND. Together they lived in numerous places ending up in Hazen, ND where she has since lived.

Stella enjoyed oil painting, reading books, baking and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Linda (David) Cohen of Buellton, CA, Lonnie Albrecht of Long Beach, CA, Roberta (Dwight) Grosz of Hazen, ND, Brian (Betsy) Johnson, of Yuba City, CA; seven grandchildren, Michael Movchan, Sasha Movchan, Samantha (Avery) Sauer, Heather Grosz, Nathan Grosz, Sydney Johnson and Ethan Johnson; three sisters, Marlene Soltis of Little Falls, Minnesota, Aretta Henderickson of Sacramento, CA, Janice (John) Hvidsten of Oak Grove, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; on brother-in-law, William Soltis.
