Stanley's obituary
Stanley B Smullen III, 90, passed away December 1, 2024.
He was born March 30, 1934 to the late Stanley Bartlett Smullen Jr. and Charlotte Greenwood Smullen. Stanley was originally from the Philadelphia area and graduated from Germantown Academy, class of 1953 where he played football and was inducted into the Academy’s athletic hall of fame in 2012. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958, he attended Temple University and graduated in 1961. He lived many years in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and later moved to Newport, Pennsylvania to be closer to his daughters. He was a real estate broker in the eastern Montgomery County for many years and later turned his hobby of collecting antique flags, arms, swords and military artifact into a business. He was a member of many professional organizations including the American Society of Arms Collectors, the Pennsylvania Antique Appraisers Association, the Bucks County Antique Dealers Association, the Company of Military Historians, the Pennsylvania Antique Gun Collectors Association, and many other collectors clubs.
Stanley authored numerous articles on antique weapons in various National Collectors magazines and journals. He will be well remembered for his daring Navy Stories, shenanigans in the suburbs of Blue Bell, owning and driving antique firetrucks and cars, firing whiffle balls out of cannons, late-night high-stake way-less-serious-than-you-think poker nights and many lively card games with family and friends.
He has now joined his life companion of 25 years Barbra R. Deschaine, loving sister Nancy Smullen Focht, and former wife and mother of his daughters Ann Greene Smullen. Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Smullen Fair (Scott), Charlotte Smullen Osmolenski (Kenneth), Carolyn Smullen Pio (Jeffrey), 10 Grandchildren, Kathryn Fair Bulkowski (James), Amanda Fair (Larry), Ellen Fair Hunter (Anthony), Kerry Fair Schmitt (Emil), Gregory Osmolenski (Mary), Stanley Osmolenski (Mary), James Osmolenski (Bethany), Anastasia Osmolenski Bell (Glenn), Shelby Pio Aldrich (William), Anthony Pio (Maria), and 11 great-grandchildren, James, Pierce, Kalli, Charlotte, Carter, Emil Jr., Oliver, Wallace, Louise, Virginia, and Calvin (with another due to arrive any day).
Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors, Germantown Academy, or a charity of choice.
