Stanley's obituary

Stanley C. Light Jr was born on February 9, 1949, in Wilmington, Delaware. He was the son of the late Stanley Cledice Light Sr and Ethel Elizabeth Maddy-Light. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, spending many summers on his Grandma & Grandpa Lewis's farm, terrorizing the chickens & pigs. He was also a part of the Boy Scouts of America till high school, and graduated with the Class of 1967 from Henry C. Conrad High School. He went on to pursue a higher education at Spring Garden College in Philadelphia, where he earned both an Associate degree in Industrial Management and a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Mechanical Engineering in 1971. His education laid the foundation for a long and accomplished career marked by dedication, intelligence, and a strong work ethic.

In 1971, he married our mother Diane M. Krammes in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. During their marriage, they moved wherever his work took them, beginning in Philadelphia and Delaware, then to Texas and New York, and finally settling in Florida. His work often required him to travel often and be gone alot. They were married for 36 years till they divorced in 2007

He began his professional journey at Little John Productions at Channel 12 Television Studios and worked as a night security guard before building a respected career in nuclear engineering and hydro industry. He worked at Westinghouse from 1974 to 1985 and later at Siemens from 1985 to 1991. In 1992, he founded SCL Engineering & Inspection in Bradenton, Florida where he served as owner and principal engineer inspector from 1992 to 2015 Through his company, he provided construction quality control, inspection, and materials testing for major infrastructure projects. His expertise in reinforced concrete, structural steel, welding, and non-destructive testing made him a trusted partner on complex, large-scale jobs. His projects included contributions to significant efforts such as work connected to the Three Gorges Dam and modernization efforts at the Grand Coulee Dam, and Nickajack Dam. Under his leadership, SCL became well regarded throughout the nuclear industry for its high standards and technical excellence. He later served as Manager of Quality Assurance & Safety at Hydro Consulting and Maintenance Services from 2015 till he retired.

Outside of his career, he enjoyed building projects around the house or in his garage, fixing or rebuilding his many Corvairs he owned, playing his guitars, and helping with math or science homework. He was also a devoted fan of the entire Star Trek franchise. Having watched every single episode & movie, you were guaranteed a quote from him. Dad also believed it was very important that we be properly educated in nuclear science and engineering. This often meant spending endless hours listening to him talk about turbines, reactors, coils, and hydro power, or walking us through one of his many projects—whether it was work, computers, or his Corvairs or just one of his many life stories. He had a way of making sure you got every single detail that was playing out in his incredibly intelligent brain… whether you were prepared for the full lesson or not.

He was preceded in death by his grandson AJ "Buddy" Lucero. He survived by his wife Naldyne, his 2 loving daughters whom he often referred to as his Kiddle dolls. Donna "Kiddle" her husband (Timothy Feikema). Deanna "Kiddle Kiddle" her husband (Daniel Hayden). His 6 grandchildren, Olivia & (Matt Ort), Ryan Light & (Raven), Colin Feikema, Nicholas Feikema, Victoria Hayden, Katherine Hayden. And 3 great grandchildren Aubrey, Jaxon & Levi.

He passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida.
