Stanley's obituary

Stanley (Stan) Leroy Lamaster, 63, of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 30th, 2023 after his battle with cancer. He passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Stan was born on April 29th, 1960 to Wanda and Robert Lamaster in Seymour, Indiana. After graduating high school at age 17, he went on to study architecture at Ball State University where he proudly received a bachelor’s degree in architecture. That launched him into his career as a principal architect. For over 35 years, he focused on healthcare architecture, designing numerous hospital department remodels, and expansion projects around the country, as well as designing entire replacement hospitals. He ended his career at the University of Illinois-Urbana as a Facilities Project Manager. He was passionate about architecture and devoted many long hours to practicing his craft. He was a driven individual with a strong work ethic, who enjoyed watching others around him grow. These three commendable traits were instilled in his sons.

He married Teresa Kay Lamaster in 1985 in Hayden, Indiana. They had three boys Cory Ryan (37), Brent Tyler (36) and Shawn Michael (34). He remarried in 2013 to Kelli Reeves and gained two stepchildren Kelsie and Trever Reeves.

He loved his family more than anything and often put his family before himself. He wanted his family to have it better than he did, a true selfless individual. Second to his love of family, was his love of sports where he was most passionate about the Dallas Cowboys. He was a Cowboys fan through and through and could spend all day talking about "his boys in blue". He was lucky enough to share this passion with his three sons. He was actively involved in Cory and Brent’s baseball careers and was their coach for many years. He shared his creativity and love of the arts with his son Shawn. He also loved to golf, loved the beach and ocean, loved to be outdoors, loved to laugh, and loved to tease his daughters-in-law.

Stan loved to travel to see family and was always willing to try the next adventure. He was a man of many ideas and was always itching to create, and work on the next project. He enjoyed playing and spending time with his grandkids and will forever be known as “Papa Stan”.

He was baptized in 2013 and rests comfortably knowing that he has been saved and is now a child of God. We pray that he is resting peacefully and pain free in Heaven.

Stan was preceded in death by his sister, Darlena Lamaster, his father, Robert Lamaster, his brother, Eric Lamaster and his mother, Wanda Lamaster. He is survived by his former wives Teresa Lamaster of Lee's Summit, MO and Kelli Reeves of Mahomet, IL; his three sons, Cory (Lauren Hess) Lamaster of Lee's Summit, MO, Brent (Taylor) Lamaster of Lenexa, KS, and Shawn (Mia) Lamaster of Suffolk, United Kingdom as well as his four grandchildren, Teagan, Bray, Banks, and Cooper Lamaster.

The Celebration of Life will be held September 30th from 11am-1pm at Aubrey Vineyards. For more information please visit the events tab on the website.
