Stanley (Pop's) G. Champney, Sr., age 90, passed away on July 9, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice in Westend, NC. Born on November 29, 1934, Stanley was known for his devotion as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. His dedication to his family was matched by his work ethic and love for his family and friends.

Stanley proudly served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge. He spent his career with a local paving company, where he applied the same dedication and hard work that he showed in every other aspect of his life.

He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, working on lawn equipment, and automobiles.

Pop's is survived by five children: son, Stanley Champney, Jr. of Cameron, NC, daughters, Peggy Champney of Sanford, NC, Martha Keeter of Sanford, NC, Barbara Collins of West End, NC, and Shelby Johnson of Greensboro, NC. Stanley also had 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. His sister, Laura (Babs) Austin, of New Hampshire, also survives him.

Stanley was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Betty Boyd Champney, his parents, Louis F. and Laura Emma Moore Champney, and twelve siblings.

A private family memorial/celebration of Stanleys life will be held at a later date.
