Stacy's obituary
Stacy Camille Sellers Wirtz, 57, passed away peacefully the evening of May 11, 2024 at home surrounded by loved ones. Stacy was born on October 11, 1966 in Ralston, NE to Dean and Pauline (Seib) Sellers.
Throughout her life, Stacy touched the lives of countless people with her drive, kindness, and unwavering love. She will be remembered for her strong independence, immense strength, and selflessness.
Stacy was a true warrior, bravely battling breast cancer for 7.5 years. Despite the challenges she faced, she never backed away from adversity and fought tirelessly to build the life she had envisioned. Along the way, she made sure to have fun, demonstrating her resilience and unwavering spirit.
Stacy dedicated her life to taking care of others. Most of her career was spent in the hospitality industry where she thrived. She spent the last decade doing what she loved, planning meetings and events while traveling all over the world. She had a remarkable ability to anticipate the needs of others and offer her support without hesitation. If you knew Stacy, you likely attended an event she had planned or received her help with your own event. She created countless amazing moments and memories for others.
Stacy was a source of strength, guidance, and endless love for everyone in her life and she cherished her family and friends. Stacy moved several times throughout her childhood and has maintained long-lasting friendships. Her best friend was someone she met in grade school back in Oklahoma and she’s also one of the beloved “Iowa Girls” who have been friends since she moved to West Des Moines in 1979.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Wirtz; children, Summer (Christopher) Bondi, Sydney Schoop, Tyler Sellers, Brittany (Marlon) Morales, Brianna (Alex) Rossmanith; grandchildren Emilio, Liam, Emmett, Brielle, Sophia, Jack; brothers Tom (Patty) Sellers, Shane Sellers; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is predeceased by her father, Dean; mother, Pauline; and brothers, Scot and Gary.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and celebrate the life of Stacy, details to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stacy’s honor to Can Do Cancer. Can Do Cancer played a huge role in Stacy’s cancer journey. She was immensely grateful for the support and guidance they provided as she marched into the unknown. Stacy also made sure to give back herself, providing guidance, love and support to others starting their own battle. Stacy’s family wishes to carry on her legacy and passion for the organization.
